Alicia y Enrique Ika excelled at the of opening of the Adventure Film Festival 2011

On the 17th and 19th of March was inaugurated the “Adventure Film Festival 2011” in the Cultural Center of Las Condes. I was able to appreciate between the movies “180° South” documentary in which participates Alicia Ika, mostly known as Lycha. The movie was directed and filmed by Danny Moder, Julia Roberts husband, and he was the one who chose this rapanui woman to lead the project.

It was a cool night, the moon was the brightest in years. Seating outdoors in front of the stage I had the privilege to watch the documentary and afterwards listen Alicia’s magical voice. In this opportunity she invited her cousin Enrique Ika who was in charge of the choirs and guitar. The show was so welcome by the audience that the second day of the festival, Enrique performed one of his own songs leaving the public amazed. Afterwards everyone was asking him what the words meant! It’s moving how the audience appreciated the effort of this young singer-songwriter.

Was a magical night, unexpected, in which I was dazzled by the beautiful images of Easter Island and heard two of their important voices.

We have to be proud to see young rapa nui participating in cultural projects in Chile and the world!
