In order to raise the awareness in the population of Easter Island about the delicate ecological situation of the most remote place in the world, the Environmental Management Unit of the City Hall of Easter Island, has created a campaign of Ecobricks. The idea is to fill plastic bottles with clean non-biodegradable trash like aluminum, plastic, etc.

The purpose is to use them to build the Department of Environmental Management and teach the community of Rapa Nui the different techniques to build with this material.

Slowly the population has been attracted by this initiative, the San Sebastian de Akivi school and the "Hare Koa Tiare" Adult Centre, made an important donation to this cause.
