The new governor Carmen Cardinalli, hold the public office just in the moment when the conflict of the demand of the lands is at its critical point, especially after the controversial takeover of the Hanga Roa Hotel.

She clarified that this problem comes from a long time and her position in this matter is to support and talk with the citizens that are still in occupation of public areas and with the family that's at the Hanga Roa Hotel. In this last case, she mentioned that this is a private subject and doesn’t involve the government, that’s why the sub-secretary of interior is metting in private with the Hito family.

The Provincial Chief mentions that as a representative of the government the idea is to dialogue in a pacific way and get to an agreement.
