Pierre Loti Exhibition "Ethnography from yesterday...living memory today, Easter Island 1872"

This exhibit tells us about the life and work of Pierre Loti, outstanding French sailor and writer that anchored on Easter Island on board of the frigate "La Flore" the 3 of January of 1872. During five days he drew and wrote in a truthful way about the island and had a friendly relation with its inhabitants.

This journalist work done with ethnography was published in Europe giving him fame. His work also permitted that a lot of people from the West could learn about Rapa Nui, that’s why his drawings and personal diary are from great value to study the history of our island.
